Very cool tool--for some reason I can't figure out how to enable Ed View. I included a pic so you can see how I'm going about it. The "Ed" button is clicked, but I still get an error when I try to move the shells out of the way.
Also, it seems that I can only rotate the mesh towards me or away from me 180 degrees, making it hard to work on the top of its head. Is that something I can unlock? Thanks!

Hi. You're in Edit view, but you're trying to move the mesh using Space & LMB (or RMB). To move shells, it's Space & MMB (Middle Mouse Button). The error message means you can only move split-off shells (ie not rotate or resize) when you're in Edit mode. It doesn't mean you're not in Edit mode (though the message is a bit ambiguous, isn't it?). Maybe Phil should consider rewording the error as 'You can only move shells in this view'?
To free rotate, click the '-' button next to Up in the Display palette. Maybe Phil should call this button '360' or 'Free', if there's room on the button?

Will do! I'm about to upload v1.18, so it should make it into that release.

It is a bit tight there ... I'll think about it :-)

Actually I managed to squeeze "Free" in OK. You'll see it in the next release, as soon as I stop finding that one last bug in the new Undo code!

Ooo .. new undo code, eh? Will it (I presume Ctrl+Z) undo whatever your last action was, or only certain actions? |

Its seems weird but I dont really miss undo anymore. Its made me more carefull with the hotkeys and locking shells, but it wiil definitely make me feel better knowing its there if I need it though. |

Yep, Ctrl-Z, and it undoes probably about 90% of anything you might do. Things like the H hide menu and 1/2/3 view toggling are considered too simple. All the "oh damn, I just messed everything up" type actions are undoable though.
