Hi All,

Here is a little test from an Aston Martin. (modelled by Morris)
UVLayout does the job great as you can see.

Peace,

Thanks for showing us your work! A couple of tips ...

1) Use Shift-T on the boundary of the headlight holes in the body shell. UVLayout will then make them rounder, which should help with the distortion in that area.

2a) Assuming that the car body is symmetrical, you can use the Symmetry Find tool after its already been flattened out ... just pick a mirror line edge in the 3D view. You'll then be able to use the S hotkey to make the UVs perfectly symmetrical.

2b) If the car body isn't symmetrical, you may still be able to tweak the UVs using the Snap/Stack tool. As long as the boundary edges on the left and right halves match, then you can use the Snap/Stack "Symm" tool to make the boundaries symmetrical, then you reflatten to sort out the interior UVs.

Phil
