Hi,
I very often unwrap very complicated models that can't be done in one session.
So I very often use Shift I to make parts of my model straight. Then if I haven't got time to finish unwrapping I send it back to max using the plugin (UVPipe), and then I save in max.
So later I want to finish my model and I send it from max back to UVlayout. Of course when I send it back all my edges I marked with Shift I are no longer selected and I got to select them all again.
My question is there away to save the Shift I selection settings so that I can load them back in later.
I will say I know I can save it as an obj, but I don't like using this method as it always gets put into max the with the wrong orientation, and I am not even sure if an obj will keep the Shift I settings.

That's odd that saving and reloading as an OBJ gives the wrong orientation, but you are correct anyway, using the OBJ format won't save and restore the Shift-I (or any other) edge tags.
Use UVLayout's own UVL format. This workflow should work ...
1) send your mesh from max to UVLayout
2) do your work
3) save the mesh to a UVL file
4) send your mesh from UVLayout to max and save it there too.
5) to continue, send your mesh from max to UVLayout again
6) load the UVL file you saved earlier
7) go back to step 2)

Hi Headus,
Here is the problem. I can save the file as a uvl and I can load it back in. It loads back in fine and it keeps the edge selection.
However the 'SEND' button is no longer there.
The send button only shows up when I send it from Max using UVPipe to UVlayout.
So I can load it back in with edge selection, but I cannot send it back to max because the Send button doesn't appear.
Is there a way to make the Send button show after loading back in my uvl file?
regards

Hi,
I have found a solution to the SEND button. If I send from max using UVpipe to UVLayout I got the SEND button and then I just load in my uvl.
I am not sure if that is the best way, but that is the only way I can keep the SEND button to send the model back to max.
I am going to try this on my next project.
I just tested it with a cube at the moment.
Unless there is another way to made the SEND button appear.
regards
