|
|
So I flatten everything out in uvlayout and then I pack, and I send it back to max, which works fine, and everything looks ok.
Later I need to make a few alterations to the uvs, so I send from max back to uvlayout.
However when I send back everything is in place, but for some reason now everything has turned red, so I have to re-flatten to get it green again.
Is this normal? |

Whenever importing an OBJ (or load via a plugin), UVLayout looks at the total area of 3D geometry vs the total area of UVs to decide if flattened shells are too large (blue) or too small (red).
If you're reloading some previously flattened geometry and its not green, then one possibility is that some new (possibly unflattened) geometry has been included that's throwing out the balance of 3D vs UV areas.
Anyway, regardless of the cause, the quickest fix is to select the red shells and click the "Green Balance" button under the Move/Scale/Rotate panel. This tool has been in the Pro version for a while, but was added to the Hobbyist/Student versions in v2.11.00 (Feb 2019). |
