|
|
Hi,
I'm trialing UVLayout and really, really like it so far! There is one thing that is keeping me from pulling the purchase trigger tho.
I occasionally have to use booleans when modeling. UV Layout refuses to allow for creating UVs for any surface with odd faces. Even if I use "Clean" it just removes the faces - which ruins the model. See photos below. What I don't understand is why UV Layout won't allow for simple planar flattening for these faces. I have no trouble doing so in other UV programs like Max or 3D Coat. Maybe there's something I can do on my end before sending to UV layout?
Thank you - I hope we can sort this out.

Email me that OBJ file and I'll see if I work out what UVLayout doesn't like about the topology.
As an initial guess, it could be because of the holes in the top and bottom faces. If the cylinder you used to cut out the holes is super smooth (many sides) then the holes will have a lot of vertexes and multiply that by 6 might just be hitting UVLayout's vertex limit (max 255 per face).
Try cutting out the holes with a courser cylinder (just like the outside circle has) and see what happens!

Thanks for the reply! The faces of that particular test Boolean have 224 vertices per. I get the same error if I simple create a box then Boolean subtract a single cylinder.
I have e-mailed you the test boolean obj link.
Thanks again! |

I've confirmed the bug, and know where to start fixing code, so should have a fix available probably early next week when I get back to the office (are traveling this week).

Hey thanks, Phil! That's great support!
BTW - I just purchased the Pro version!
Will you notify when this fix has been implemented?
Thanks again!

UVLayout now loads boolean faces. The fix is in the current beta (uvlayout.com Support Extras page) and will be in the v2.10.01 release.
