|
|
Hi, pressing the send button in UVLayout will not resend my mesh back to maya. A work around would be to just save the file as an OBJ. The problem there is that I can't actually fill in the dialogue window either. I can't fill any dialogue box in fact. I've managed to save the file by navigating to a folder with known OBJ files and replacing on I don't need with the UV Layout save but that's just weird
Thanks in advance
PS. I'm getting the "polyTransfer" node in Maya every time I press the send button but the UVs aren't actually transferring. |

Definitely weird behavior! First thing I'd try is a system reboot ... it really does fix a lot of things :-)
If that doesnt work, which version of UVLayout are you running, also OS and version of Maya?

I'm using Maya 2015 at t he moment but I've had this happen before with 2014. The not transferring part. In the past I discovered that emptying the UVLayout folder of everything but the temp and keep file solved that (sometimes) not now though. I'm running v2.08.06. My OS is OS X 10.10.4. with XQuartz 2.7.7
Other things I've noticed are that I CAN type in the standalone application but CAN'T with the plugin but sending stuff back to Maya from there still doesn't work. (although while typing this that behaviour sounds logical) The standalone app has other issues though. Pressing the f key flattens in pulses which is very slow. Turns out that the plugin behaves the same way which is logical I suppose because all the plugin does is open the app in the first place right? But if that's the case then why are there different behaviours with the dialogue boxes?
After further testing I've discovered that it has to do with the file (the f key issue) not yet sure what the cause is though.

nope after a save and a weekend brake the .uvl file also exhibits the same phenomenon. which it did not the day before. It seems like it's got something to do with the "edit UV" option as opposed to the "new UV" option |

An alternative to the F key is to use the Optimizer Run For button. I personally map this to the F1 key, so its quick to fire off, and if you untick "Slow Smooth Optimize" in the preferences, its the quickest way to flatten out a shell too. Just LMB select it first, tap F1, then the optimize will run ... and I'm hoping will bypass your "plusing" problem.
