Why is this happening? It's just a simple box with a lining. I managed to get the lining out of it and split up the lid and it's lining but when trying to split the edges of the box I'm getting.... no splits found ...

O.K. I think I've worked this out... just had to think 'outside the box.' Laughing

Now I have this problem. As you can see the box inside and outside are alright for this exercise... but along the top it's all stretched. I'm guessing that I have to 'pin' it.. but as I have never tried that before.. I'm not too sure how to go about it.
Any suggestions?

Can you upload a screen shot of the UVs? You shouldn't have to pin anything ... a box is fairly straight forward, and just normal flattening should be enough if you have the cuts in the right places.

Hi Phil,

here's a screenshot of the box after I had cut it up. How I made it was... cube and then shell... I made it in Cheetah and keeped the polys down to practialy none.

It could be that it may have needed more polys. but that would only add to the problem.. wouldn't it?

Those UVs look fine, but my guess is that they're not being transferred from UVLayout back into your modeling/render package correctly. What makes me think this especially is that one of your crosses is slightly on an angle, but that not reflected in the grid texture in the render ... it should be on an angle too if its using the same UVs as those shown in the UVLayout window.

I must admit that I did do it without much thought as I was only working out why when I put a texture on it.. some of the pattern was stretched. I worked out why that was and then I saw this... ohh well.. back to the drawing board. LOL

Thanks Phil. I'll try again and see if I can improve on it. Smile
