It seems to me I used to be able to press I to tag a single edge. Now it tries to guess and tag an entire loop when I press I. This is no good. I used to press I on opposite ends of a segment I wanted to straighten. This "bookended" the segment then I pressed (I think) Shift+I in the middle area to tag the stuff in the middle.
The point is, you could get a lot more surgical with your edge tagging. Feels like I lost that ability. |

For consistency across the hotkeys, "I" now functions like "C", with the same edge loop detection and selection functionality. If you want that surgical precision back, try the new "D" mode after 0/1/10 in the Edit panel. That lets you press and hold "I" on the first edge, then drag the mouse pointer in the direction you want to select.
