I have just downloaded and installed the 'hobby' version.
First question..
I can't seem to have the same window that the 'learning' video.. UVLayout-Load-Option.mov has.. eg.. the backscreen. All I get are the tools down the left hand side. In the video he says to 'drag' the .obj into the icon at the top.. but I don't have an icon.
I have Xll .. mac...snowleopard
This program looks good... now all I have to do is get it working.

The training videos are recorded on Windows, but the drag'n'drop feature should still work under OSX. Drag the headus app icon down into the quick launch list down the bottom of the screen (sorry, dont know what the official mac name for that is), then you can deag'n'drop OBJ files onto that icon to load them up.
Otherwise, what happens if you click the "Load" button? That should bring up a file selection window where you can find and load your OBJ file from a list.

Thanks for that Phil.. the one thing I didn't try. I'm draging the obj file down onto the icon at the bottom and it's then showing up in the UVLayout Load window and it's highlighted. So I click the 'load' button and I get this.. with an eggtimer looking thing when I drag my curser over the second one (not the first one).. the one that says... try the different versions. I had already clicked on that on the first one.
It's been over 10 minutes now and nothing else has happened. It looks like I have about 31360 faces... would this be why it is taking so long?
This is so frustrating... I am trying to follow the very basic video.. but it's just not doing what it's doing in the video. |

Well this is what I did this morning....
Updated X11
Checked 'disc utility'
Reinstalled 'UVLayout'
Made a simple .obj that has only 12432 faces
Opened UVlayout
clicked on the 'Hobbyist Version Trial'
drag and dropped the above .obj into the icon which then open with the .obj where it should be.
Clicked on 'load' which brought the second window as in my last post.. which as you can see.. looks like it's taking me around in circles.
The first window which has the Hobbyist Version Trial on it... has nothing.. while the second window.. which wants me to click the Hobbyist Version again... has this little 'eggtimer' thing happening... and it's now been happening for.......30 mins.
Nothing else is opening...
Please... if there's a Mac. person out there.... can you help me..... |

Give me a few minutes to double check the demo here. Of course it worked fine last time I checked, but something might have been broken in the latest release.
Even if I dont find a problem with the Demo version here, I'll set you up with the full hobbyist version on a temporary key.

So I downloaded the latest Demo (to make sure I was using exactly what you had) and ran it on Snow Leopard too and everything seems fine here.
By the way, the drag'n'drop will only ever open up the Demo version, so if you want to run it in the Hobbyist Trail mode, just start up the Demo by running the app, then run the trail mode, then use the Load button to load your OBJ.
It sounds like you've been doing that though already and the Load just isn't working for some reason on your system. I'll set up that account for you now, so you can access the full Hobbyist version to see if that helps.

Thanks Phil...
I would appreciate that as I would hate to have to give up on this program.. it looks like just what I need.
I don't understand the workings behind the computer so can't do what some of the whiz kids do and change things. |

Oops, a bad case of mondayitus ... I set up your account with the Pro version download. Sorry, but you'll need to go back to the download page and grab the UVLayout-Hobby-2.08.00.dmg that you'll see on there now. Open that up to install the full Hobbyist version. You can then delete the Demo version to avoid any chance of confusion.

O.K. Phil... got it up and open... have the '13 days' in green. Now I drag'n'drop the .obj into the icon in my bar at the bottom... it showed up on the page so I clicked 'load' which is at the bottom of the page... and.... nothing... this is what I get... with the 'eggtimer' again when I move the curser over the bottom page.
Just had a thought.... I'm using a wacom table.. would that make a difference?? |
