Sorry for this but Im really stuck
Question 1:
How can I clear a selection line? I know about "W", but say I have a complicated
selection line (trying not to have to retopologize a model) and I get to a point where I want to just delete the whole thing and start over.

Question 2: after Ive moved a piece of geometry into UV space - say I find a problem - and want to return it to Edit space. How do I do that?

That's the "Untag Edges" button under the "Edit" panel. If you only want to go back so far, just keep typing Ctrl-Z to undo the most recent edge select.

Shift-D. That one's covered in the "UVLayout-Undropping-Shells" movie in the "Basic" videos at uvlayout.com.

yes - I hunkered down and watched all the videos yesterday and I got the shift +d info

the Untag edges is new info however - thanks
when this job winds down a bit I plan on reading the entire manuel.
