Hi,
I'm a new user of UVLayout, I downloaded demo version and trying to Cut edges as introduced in the user guide, but putting the cursor over the edge and pressing C key doesn't change color of that edge..

how can I do that?
regards..

Hmmm, that should be working. Which operating system are you using?

OK, thanks. I do have a 64bit XP system handy, so will double-check the latest demo on it.

Are you loading with "Edit" selected? You OBJ already has UVs, so when "Edit" is selected in the load options, the existing UVs are retained. It might be that the edges you're trying to cut with 'C' are already UV seams. Loading with "New" selected will fix that.

All of that looks fine, and I just loaded your file into the current Demo version on my own 64bit XP system without any problems.

Its a mystery! The only other thing I can suggest is to zoom in a bit (spin mouse wheel) and try and select an edge then. Dont aim for the ends; the last 10% or so is a "dead" area.

OMG!
It confused me really! It's actually a great misfortune!
thanks Phil.. I did what you said, but..! (by the way I didn't "exactly" understand this part of your note: "Dont aim for the ends; the last 10% or so is a "dead" area." -sorry for my bad language!)
I can select the faces by pressing G key and that made me glad temporarily!

Sorry, I'm really stumped!

Try this ... once the mesh is loaded and displayed, resize the 3D window a small amount. It could be that UVLayout is initially confused about where the mouse pointer is on the screen, and resizing the window will set various parameters to their correct values.

Thanks, I checked your way.. it didn't work.
I think the root of the problem should be in another where, because I can easyly select the polygons (G key)..
anyway.. I'll come back here perhaps anyone would find a solution..

thanks for you helps..

It could be related to the display driver.

You can test this out by right clicking on the desktop background, select Properties, then open up the Settings tab, click on Advanced, then open up the troubleshoot tab. Move the "Hardware Acceleration" slider to "None", then run UVLayout and see what happens. It'll draw slower, but try the edge cutting and see if it works or not.

If it does work, then it means its a driver related problem, and that can be hard to fix. You wont want to run with the Hardware Acceleration turned off all the time because everything else will run really slowly, so a driver upgrade may be needed if one is available.

What driver version are you at currently? AMD/ATI is at 10.2 with 10.3 beta also out.

Only other advice I can give is make sure you fully uninstall the video drivers before putting on the new ones. (this includes disconnecting your internet connection so windows does not try to go auto load drivers. I would HIGHLY recommend drivercleaner. It's not free, but it does a tremendous job in cleaning up old drivers (of which video drivers are notorious for leaving bits of themselves behind)

Especially since you *ARE* fighting a video issue, it's doubly important your sure they are completely cleaned off before trying to load new ones. This is just my opinion, your mileage may vary, but I have used DC for many years and it's only 10 bucks. www.drivercleaner.net
