Hi

I am considering a few new components for my PC, namely an upgrade to an i7 core with associated mobo and memory. I will be keeping the same drives and graphic card...how do I go about moving UVLayout to my new build?

You've got an old Ether license, right? It'll be tied to the Ether address of your network card, so shouldn't be affected unless its integrated into a motherboard which gets changed. If the ID does change, we can issue a new license for the "new" system, but because its over a year since you purchased your license, you'll need to upgrade your support subscription. That's $50, and can be paid from your uvlayout.com Support Details page.

Yes, the network card is part of the board, yet $50 is a very reasonable sum in my opinion, so I will sort this out when the updates are complete. Let me know if I need to complete any paperwork.

The steps to follow are ...

1) Install UVLayout on the upgraded system
2) Send me the new Ether ID
3) I send back a temp key for testing
4) If that's OK, I'll email transfer paperwork
5) When emailed back, I generate permanent key

Actually, you might want to consider upgrading your Ether license to a Dongle license. Its $100, and includes an extra year of support as part of the upgrade ... i.e. you wouldn't need to pay that $50 for the support subscription renewal. The dongle would allow you to run UVLayout on any system.

Phil, do you notify us of an impending subscription expiration? I dont see anything in the app about "days remaining" or what not. I get these reminders from Autodesk (usually a month or so ahead, so I can plan the expense) and it's quite helpful. I surely do not want my UVLayout subscription to lapse down the road....

No, I don't want to contribute to the flood of spam emails we all get these days. At the moment its set up so that you have 30days grace (after the year has expired) to pay before access to the updates is cut-off. You can pay at anytime though to re-enable the access if its been disabled, it just might take a day to process.

What I've been considering are some choices for emails that you could set under your Support Details page, such as the support expiry, update announcements etc. They'd be off by default, but those who like email updates can tick them on.

I do like the idea of giving the user the option. So once my subscription expires, I assume the program will tell me so when I try to run it. Still. I would use the optional email notification if it was made available. That 30 day clock will be ticking even if (for whatever reason) I may not be using the app. Then I do and then I realize I only may have a week left!. So having that email notification will guarantee I know when it's coming well ahead of time, whether i'm actively using UVLayout or not. Just my opinion. Very Happy
