When moving pts on the UVs, i'm aware of three good ways to do this:
ctrl-mmb to move individual pts, ctrl-shift-mmb to move a range of connected pts, and shift-mmb to move pts under the brush circle.

is there a way to:
1. move only a selection of pts (perhaps restricted to the G selected green polys )?
or mask off an area to not be affected by moving (maybe G polys again)?
2. rotate a selection of pts? or polys

aslo, is there a way to mask polys so they are not affected by flattening, optimising, rotating, etc? Except by pinning all 4 pts -- which kind of doesn't fully work, because they do slide.

thanks,
NJ

"is there a way to: "

No, sorry, not currently.

"mask polys so they are not affected by flattening, optimising, rotating"

Again, no joy for you there yet. About the only work-around is to G select the polys, detach them as a separate shell, do your flattening etc, then re-attach.

I've just added "be able to lock individual points/polys" to the to do list.

That's great. I think it's really needed, because it's needed after you detach, flatten, and reattach, and are trying to move limited areas without re-flattening, to even things out -- without messing up what's working.

Also it would be very helpful to be able to rotate sets of points -- i often find myself looking for that function, and end up spending a lot of time dragging points when a simple rotation of an area is what's needed.

thanks,
NJ

"be able to rotate sets of points"

No problems ... when I get to the "lock polys" thing, I'll make sure it does that as well.

Actually, I decided that xforming G polys probably wasn't that hard to do, so had a go, and now it works! There's no drop-off though ... all marked polys get moved/rotated/scaled the same ... but is that something you might want?

And as far as flattening/optimizing goes, I just checked and pinned points aren't drifting. In earlier versions they did, but I did fix that. Which version are you using?

I'll most likely upload a new installer sometime later this week, so the G polys xforming thing will be in that.

Drop-off would be even better. It would help in the many cases where you'd want to rotate a limb or other segment (or portion thereof) that is either overlapping, or needs to be better aligned to match textures. Then i can go in and either re-flatten the stretched and compressed areas, or just drag the points to compensate.

It would also be excellent if the mmb tools could work only on the selected polys, or else that the selected polys would be masked against the regular mmb movements (probably easier programming?). The ability to mask actions really expands what you can do. The pinning doesn't really do that because the pinned points get dragged around with the mmb moves, which is probably a good thing to keep. Masking would give additional functionality.

You're right -- i could swear that was happening to me awhile back, but i can't reproduce it. I have latest version. perhaps it was in the demo that the drift was happening, but apparently not in pro version.

super-cool. looking forward to the rotate points, will help with several issues.

I can see why UVL is so good -- thanks for listening,

OK, I'll see if I can get the option for drop-off in the next release. I sort of anticipated someone would want it even if you didn't, so I might as well do it now while I still remember what I just did :-)

The drop-off thing is working well now ... it'll definitely be in the next release now, which will hopefully be sometime in the next few days ... a couple of bugs in other things need to be fixed first.

Sorry, a few days has extended out a bit, but the release is imminent!

Here's the new video for the marked polys transform tool ...

... which will be in the v2.00.07 release either tomorrow or the next day.

Wow looks awesome, the drop off and pointer pivot are a really nice touch. Always a lovely suprise or two when you implement a new feature. Thanks.

Very Happy

Wow, this is such a great implementation of what I was looking for -- being able to define the transition area and rotation point so easily, just brilliant. An elegant solution.

You absolutely rock, Phil.
