- Which pieces I should weld together and which I should not ?
- After the UV process I should paint those parts, what is the best way to do that ?
I use Maya but if there is a better way I will be glad to know it

Welding determines where the seams are in the texture mesh. For example, if you have a seam down the middle of the face, that may be visible after painting, where one behind the ears is less obvious. So thats the general rule ... try and place the seams in crevices or more hidden areas ... seams in more obvious places should be welded if it doesn't create too much distortion.

Sorry, I cant help you there much. There's the choice between 2D paint (eg Photoshop) or 3D paint ... I personally do neither because we get the color from our 3D scan data.

what you mean by scan 3d data , are you using laser scanning for models ? |

Yes, 3D scanning is a big chunk of our business. I write software to support the service bureau.
