My company recently perchased the floating 4pack lisence and it appears to still have a crash within 5 minutes when I have both of my monitors active and has no crash like that if I deactivate my seccond monitor while working. Has there been any patches to fix this. Just wondering because every one else her is also having this same crash and they keep asking me about it so i figured i would pass it along to you.

I haven't had a crash yet, but I'm working through other dual-monitor problems like maximize and floating panel positions. I'm using an old driver on old hardware (Quadro4 without FX), but will test it under something more modern when I get those other things fixed.

Actually it might help if you could either post here or email me more info about your particular setup ... that is, OS, graphics card and driver version/date, and where your secondary monitor is (ie to the right, left or above the primary screen).

My video card is a
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS

And the monitors I am using are are both Dell flatpanels

Operating System?

I've made changes as far as pop-up window positioning and maximize goes, but still no crashes here when running under dualview. Thats on the old hardware though, so I'll try it on something more modern later today.

When I work I am actually working in monitor 2

I fixed a number of problems with the handling of dual monitors, so now windows pop up in their correct locations, and the maximize works according to what monitor the main GUI window is on.

Tested with the 2nd monitor to the left, right, above and below the primary.

Tested with the latest drivers available for the following setups ...

Windows XP - nVidia Quadro4 750 XGL
Windows XP - nVidia GeForce 6800
Windows XP+Vista - ATI Radeon X300
Fedora 7 64bit - nVidia Quadro FX 350M

But something odd is happening under this configuration ...

Windows Vista 64bit - nVidia Quadro FX 350M

It doesn't crash, but key events on the 2nd monitor are being dropped/lost. Don't know if its a problem with the driver, or the fact that its 64bit Vista, but it works fine on the same hardware when running under Fedora 7.

So hopefully all this cleaning up of the dual monitor handling fixes your crashing problem!

So what do I do if i want to get the new version of this software at work wher they have purchase 4 floating lisences. Do you guys just send them the new update or what is the precess here.

The latest installer can be grabbed from http://www.uvlayout.com/try/, so who ever it is whos responsible for software installs in your company just needs to go there.

There also some blurb at http://www.uvlayout.com/doc/Installation_Guide:_Windows_Server that describes how a single copy of UVLayout can be shared across a Windows network, and by doing that only one install needs to be kept up to date in an environment where you might have multiple users.

I installed the new one and it is still crashing within a few minutes of working on it if I have both monitors on and it is not crashing at all if i turn the other monitor off.

One other note is if I am working in other programs with it in the background it doesnt crash it is only while it is activly being used

Sorry about that! I thought after testing it on 4 different PCs here, with no crashes, that it was going to work for you.

Can you find out what driver date and version it is that your running? Right click on the desktop, select Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Adapter -> Properties -> Driver. I can then send this info off to nVidia to see if they can help. Their demo development team is using UVLayout, so they might be able to run some tests with the latest version too.

My Driver details can be seen in the attached image,and actually I have had some sucess with out crashing while having both monitor up not for real long but i have worked for a half day before getting the crash. But it always crashes eventually. Sorry for this taking so long I have been mad busy the whole month of July.
