Try the "Clean" option when loading the OBJ into UVLayout. If that doesnt help, can you post here a screen shot of UVLayout running, with the odd polys loaded, so I see what you mean by odd?
Thanks,

Thanks for uploading the OBJ file!
The Clean currently only fixes non-manifold edges, but I can see now it needs to look for duplicate polys too, because that's the problem with your mesh.
See the attached image; I was able to load your OBJ with Edit on, and Clean off, then I undropped everything with Shift-D, and basically from there could see that you had a second collar overlaid on the first one.
There's a bug in uvlayout too, because if I load with Edit off, it crashes. But if you can delete those duplicate polys in the collar, you should be OK.

I'm part way through adding a "remove duplicate polys" function to the Clean tool, so in the next release you should be able to load that mesh without having to fix it up in another program.
Again, thanks for uploading the file ... it makes it a lot easier to fix things when I have the offending mesh in front of me.

OK, duplicate polys are now removed when the "Clean" load option is enabled. Your shirt mesh from above now loads fine into UVLayout. I hope to be uploading a new release sometime in the coming week that'll include this new feature.
