I didn't know what else to title this thread.
So what I'm talking about is, if you open a .uvl file and make some changes and hit the E button, you get a file called "edit01.uvl" in the same folder, all further saves made that way will have the numbers appended to the word "edit", i.e., 01, 02, 03, and so on.
I was wondering if it would be possible to have the name of the file included?
So if I'm working on a file called "Creature.uvl", the saves made with the E button would be titled "Creature_edit01.uvl", "Creature_edit02.uvl", "Creature_edit03.uvl", and so on.
Just because if there are several .uvl files of different objects in a folder, it would make it easier to keep track of it all, if everything had a different name like that, and would save time having to manually save out each file with a different name.
But I should probably just have a separate folder for each project, right?
Nevertheless, it would be a more standard way of doing incremental saves. |

A good suggestion! I've just been working on the saves already ... the next release does auto save ... so that part of the code is fresh in my mind.

Sounds good, Phil.
Alternatively, it could be something like "FileName_v001.uvl", "FileName_v002.uvl", "FileName_v003.uvl", and so on.
v for incremental version number, and without the word "edit" at all.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of autosave are you talking about? A .bak file over-written every so often, or something like Adobe Premiere, which creates a user-defined number of backups in a user-defined time period, and cycles through? |

" and without the word "edit" at all."
Yep, that's possible ...
"what kind of autosave are you talking about?"
User defined period from 0 (off) to 60 minutes, cycling between 5 files like the tmp*.uvl ones. It only saves if something has changed, so you can walk away and not worry about it overwriting previous auto saves with the same data.

Sounds great Phil.
Yeah, that's the way Premiere does it. I don't know though if it saves when you're away or not though, as I never checked. |
