Note: The below information is now out of date, but is retained here as a historical record.

Hello All,

Because we didn't make our expected January '06 release date, those of you
who can't wait any longer can now buy UVLayout with the special pre-release
discounted price of $175 for an Ether license, or $275 for a Dongle license,
compared to the expected $250/350 official release price.

All the details, and expected questions and answers, are here ...

http://www.uvlayout.com/buy/

Phil

Until the actual release, which is looking like March sometime.

Sorry! I thought because of the time difference I didnt have to rush :-) I got your info
first thing this morning, but am using it right now as a test case for some new
back-end database development at uvlayout.com. I'll send the license the old way
right away!

Everytime I say "yes", another 6 months later it still hasnt been. But its gotta be getting close, because now about the only major thing left on the "has to be done before the release" list is an Undo.

Can someone please tell me if purchasing gets me 12 months of updates and tech support from the time of purchase, or 12 months of updates and tech support after the first full version release? I guess, I want to know if purchasing the beta now insures I will get the first full version. Smile

Thanks for your time,
Beth

That one. Anyone buying now, or who has bought the beta previously, will be getting the full version and support for 12months after that.

Is there a revised estimate of the release date for the full version?

I'm thinking of buying before release of the full version, but I'm also thinking of buying a new machine and I don't want to find my software is locked to an old computer.

I thought about the 6 monthly option, but I'm a bit wary of that. What happens if your business folds and my 6 monthly temporary license runs out? I understand the need to protect yourself against piracy, but I have to say the whole dongle/ether locked thing is a real turn off. Permanently tying software to a piece of hardware, whether it's a dongle or an ethernet card, makes me really hesitant to buy it.

Its going to be officially released, no matter what, before GDC in March.

Well, firstly, we aren't going to fold ... but if something like that did ever happen, we'd generate permanent licenses for all current users.

The current licensing system is borrowed from our other products, which are more expensive and are solely aimed at professional users, so it is probably over-kill for UVLayout. At some point we'll look at other methods, but for now you are going to be stuck with dongles or ethers IDs. We're hoping that UVLayout itself is a bigger turn-on than the licensing is a turn-off.
