"The two images show the two situations where it was very difficult (zoomed in or out, slow mouse or fast, etc.) to make the selection go in the direction where there is a red X."

Not sure why that first case didn't work ... I found a similar piece of geometry here and it was fairly easy to direct it all ways at that point. If you can cut that arm off and send it my way, I'll take a look.

The second case though might be because there's little ambiguity where to go next to continue the edge loop. UVLayout has decided towards the right there because the angle "A" is a lot less than the angle "B". In cases where one edge is a stand-out, it wont even give you the option to select other edges. You'll know this when drawing out the edges in drag mode ... normally they're red, but if you see a blue edge, that's the only time you get to choose the direction.

What I'll do is play with the settings that decide which junctions are directable. My worry is that if all junctions are like that, the "edge loopiness" of the selections will be compromised ... but I might be wrong!

" Shift+C doesn't work in 'D' mode"

Oops ... all fixed now.

Phil

OK, here's what happens if I relax the edge loop rules a bit ... first image below shows what it currently does, and the second is with the more relaxed rules. By making it "looser", the selected path is more likely to follow the shortest path from the start point to the mouse pointer (the "X"), but that isn't always going to be the real edge loop.

So I think I'll leave it how it is, and its not too painful when you hit a junction that doesn't want to go where you want it ... just release and press the C again to start a new drag selection in the direction you want.

There's now a new installer up on the Support Extras page that fixes the Shift-C and symmetry edit bugs.

Actually just used it on something and it is SWEET. Thanks so much - I am going to be using D mode from now on. With dragging and SHIFT + C I can rip through a UV session. LOVE IT.

Thanks Phil, much appreciated.
