In case you're wondering, UVLayout does work under Yosemite. If you've recently upgraded and UVLayout doesn't start up, download and install the latest XQuartz release.

There's more info here ...

Issuing command in Apple Terminal, then logging out and back in solves the issue.
Code:
sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchAgents/org.macosforge.xquartz.startx.plist

The problem at least for me was that XQuartz did not create the $DISPLAY variable.

You can check if you have it via "echo $DISPLAY" in terminal it should return something like "/private/tmp/com.apple.launchd.C04Dk247OV/org.macosforge.xquartz:0" if it does, the problem is elsewhere and you should reinstall XQuartz by first removing it from system by issuing these commands in Apple Terminal, after which you should reboot and then install XQuartz again.
Code:

sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchAgents/org.macosforge.xquartz.startx.plist

sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.macosforge.xquartz.privileged_startx.plist

sudo rm -rf /opt/X11* /Library/Launch*/org.macosforge.xquartz.* /Applications/Utilities/XQuartz.app /etc/*paths.d/*XQuartz

sudo pkgutil --forget org.macosforge.xquartz.pkg

Important step is to logout when XQuatz installation asks otherwise the DISPLAY would not be set properly and therefore UVLP wont run properly!

Alternatively you can run XQuartz and launch X11 terminal and type in:
Code:
./Applications/headus-UVLayout-Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/headus-launch

Provided that UVL is installed in /Applications folder, otherwise change the path to suite your needs.

The problem occurs mostly when you upgrade OS X Mavericks to Yosemite.

Hope this helps, Cheers! Smile

Many thanks for sharing your detailed Yosemite install notes!

We do realize its an inconvenience for people to have to install XQuartz as well as UVLayout, but we just dont have the manpower at this point it time to develop a fully native OS X version of UVLayout.
