Hi all,
maybe a total newbie question, but I'd like to check before I do all the work..
I would like to work on only one side of my exact mirror mesh, but the blue line/color UV Layout displays worries me.

Can you advise whether its "safe" to continue with what I have?

Those blue lines indicate a boundary in the geometry, so its perfectly normal to see them there if you've only loaded up half your mesh.

You'd only need to worry if you saw them inside the mesh somewhere, which would indicate an unwelded vertex at that point. If you did have those, you'd need to fix them up in your modeler before sending the mesh to UVLayout.

Thanks for the answer - worked like a charm.
Just another question - when you look at my finished UV - I'd say in terms of reds and blues, doesn't look too shabby. However, in Mudbox I do get some bad stretching in some areas. What might be the reason?

Many thanks!

"in Mudbox I do get some bad stretching"

I'm guessing here because I've never used Mudbox, but one thing it could be is that you flattened the mesh in UVLayout as a Poly, but then its interpreted in MB as a SUBD surface. If that's the case, you can load the OBJ back into UVLayout with "Edit" and "SUBD" selected in the load options, then use the Optimize "Run For" button to reflatten the shells.

wow - thats looking different... so if I go in and get this back to being nice and green, you'd suspect I'll get a better result?

I can't use the Optimize button as It's not available in the version I am using, but I guess it can be done by hand as well...

Yeah, if think if you re-flatten all of those with the F key, then things should look better in MB.
