Hello -

I'm having trouble opening and saving .obj files with UVLayout.

I've attached a .jpg of what happens when I try to load an .obj, but in brief, it loads for a bit, then says:

Problems loading. No such file or directory.

In the main viewport it briefly flashes "Error loading ./junk//uvedit008478:". I've named my default Maya project folder junk, but I can't imagine why this is an issue for loading an .obj. The .objs I am trying to load are not in my junk folder. They were never associated in any way with my junk folder.

This happens to every .obj I have tried to load. These same .obj files open without problems on a co-worker's copy of UVLayout, so this is probably something with my specific setup.

When I try to save an .obj file out from UVLayout, it saves with a 0 KB file size and no content in the file.

What's happening? Does anyone know? Please help.

Okay . . . managed to make it work. I created a uvedit008478 folder in my junk folder and now .obj importing works. Not sure why - I can't find any references to that folder in UVLayout.

Click on "About UVLayout" at the top of the GUI and then the "Run Licensing GUI" button. In there is a "Common Preferences" button, and under that is the "Temp Dir" ... that must be where the "junk" is coming from ... maybe you set it at some point and forgot? Anyway, click on the arrow next to that and you can select a different temporary directory.

Right you are. That was the problem.

I was looking for references to folders, but I was only looking as far as the About UVLayout -> Preferences preferences.

Thank you!
