I keep getting this error when selecting my poly object "jumper"
select -r Jumper ;
// Error: Invalid file type specified: OBJexport //
Why is UVLayout have problems with this poly object? it had default shader applied and when I do try to send it over via maya plugin it just duplicates it.
I try to send over the duplicated version created by UVL and it dups it again!!
Any ideas?
Many thanks |

The Maya plugin makes a copy of your object, then writes that out to an OBJ, and then that's loaded into UVLayout.
By the looks of the error message, something is going wrong at the "write out an OBJ" step, and then rest of the script is aborted, which includes the bit that deletes the copied object.
Can you manually save out OBJ files? If not, then you'll need to turn on the "objExport" plugin. You can do that from Window -> Settings/Preferences -> Plugin Manager, then check that "objExport" is ticked.
