Hello there, i have tried uvlayout very successfully, workflow is really cool and result is quite promissing.
I have two questions regarding the workflow:
how do you weld again something that has been cut ?
How do you preserve your uvs when going back to uvlayout ? Let's say i have totally unwrapped a model, tweaked the model or the model uvs in a second app (maya for instance) and want to pelt some parts again in uvlayout without destroying my uvs ?
THX, this application is really speeding up my workflow:-) |

1.-a)Select the part that was cut with the shift+W key
b)Move that shell near to mesh that you want to weld(magnetic key: m)
c)Scale down
d)Press enter
e)Done!
2.-Press Update, so you can work again in other moment with your uv
Hope i understand your point.
Andreseloy
ps:Thanks Phil

Hello, I didnt know there were zbrushers around, thx man for your reply.
I think you understood me right.
About question 1: I was talking about welding the same cut back after a fix seam operation (shift+s) and before entering the uv space, but yeah i might need that trick too in order to fix two shells.
question 2 i think i miss the update button and went straight for load>new option box, dear me !
THX again for your time man ! |

"how do you weld again something that has been cut ?"
Use the "w" hotkey to tag the edges you want to join together, then you can use "m" on one of the shells to move it into position, then hit Enter on a shell to weld them together. Have a look at "Welding Shells" under the "Basic" section of the videos at uvlayout.com.
"How do you preserve your uvs when going back to uvlayout ?"
Select "Edit" in the load options window.

"I was talking about welding the same cut back after a fix seam operation (shift+s)"
OK, the only way to do that is to Shift-D the whole shell. This will close up *all* the seams on that piece of mesh.

press 't' for texture (it will cycle between 3 options of 'textures') when in 3d-mode
(hotkey -> 3).
