For almoust a year I could not use UV Layout I tried everything but every time i try to load an obj. file I ve got msg "Problems Loading not such file or Directory"

so i stopped using it ...
and receantly more by accident i exported my obj. file from maya instead into its folder onto my desctop,

and then for god knows what reason i tried to open it again by dragging it onto my UV layout desktop Icon, and to my shock it worked .... ?????

I strait away tried to open my other files and noticed that
if object files are placed on my desctop, UV layout works but if they are anywhere else/ in any other folder i get msg" Problems Loading not such file or Directory"...
can you guys help me? why is that ? i have never had that problem brfore with previous verssions

but anyway i am happy that it works, even though i d prefer not to have my obj files all over my desktop .... is there any way to fix this ?

thanks in advance

Its hard to say why the click'n'drag isnt working, but have you tried loading OBJs into UVLayout with the "Load" button? Double click the UVLayout desktop icon to run UVLayout, and then click Load and use the file selection window that pops up to find your files in other folders.

It sounds like you're running the Windows version, so you can click on the "Dir" button in that file selection GUI to bring up a standard Windows directory browser to find your files quickly.

In the latest UVLayout release (v2.07.00), recently visited folders are remembered, so you can quickly jump to them again.

sorry what i meant is that UV Layout does not work if the object file being imported is not being uploaded from the desktop regardless do i drag it or use load button ///
for an instance if i try to load anything that is in my image or source image files in maya folder will not work till i move files i want to use to desktop ....

p.s yes i use win 7- 64 bit

thanks
