Updating UVs Issue. Edit button not available

Hello
I had a crash on UV layout. Im trying to open a previous save file and it lets me load it under update but I cant get back into edit mode. Is it permanently locked at this point? Am I doing something wrong. Thanks for your help.

I'm assuming you're talking about "Ed" mode? That's active/enabled when you have polys that haven't been flattened (i.e. dropped into UV space). If the "Ed" button is greyed out, then it means all your polys are in UV space already.

My guess is that your old save file was an OBJ, and by default, UVLayout will create UVs for any unflattened polys when an OBJ is saved out (this is the "Set All UVs on Save" preference). A better way to make backup saves as you are working is via the Tmp 1 to 5 and E buttons; the files then are in UVLayout's own UVL format, and any unflattened polys will stay that way.

If you want to restore the unflattened polys in your OBJ file, you should see them all in the -1 to 0 UV tile, down and to the left of the red unit square. Aim the mouse point at nothing in the UV window, type Shift-D, then drag a box around all of those polys and they all be moved back into the Ed space.
