To preserve groups in the OBJ file, you need to use the "Update" button. Select the original OBJ file that you loaded into UVLayout, and a copy is made with all of the original grouping info and the new UVs.

If you use "Update", everything that was in the original OBJ file will be in the new one. You have to be careful though because OBJ files cant always save all of an object properties, so you might still lose something through the export and import process. It really depends on which modeler and OBJ import/export method in that application that you're using.
I recommend checking out the UVLayout transfer plugins, because some of those will replace the UVs of the object loaded in the modeler, preserving all other properties ...

"how can i rotate a part on a other axe in the uv section"
Once a piece of geometry is in UV space, you can rotate it with Space-LMB (Hold down Space and click'n'drag the Left Mouse Button). If you need to flip it over, use the key pad arrow keys.

Sometimes I still got same problem. I checked inside UVLayout and there are group and material informations (all listed in groups and materials section) and even if I clicked on update button, when I open my obj in Hexagon, I got an "HeadusOBJexport" group and lost all materials.
It didn't happen with me since a year and today I got same result again and again.
I have Pro version. |
