For a long time now I've wanted there to be a way to focus on what your working on

Imagine you are in the UV world, you highlight/tag a shell or shells then when you go to the 3D view if has some kind of display that shows you where it is.

A crazy arrow or ghosting effect perhaps................................scary

On simple models I just mark it (G).

If you G mark polys in the UV view, you can focus in on those back in the 3D view with G-Home. If they're on opposite ends of the mesh it not much use though, but you could then try H-G and H-S to hide everything except those polys, making it easier to spot where they are.

"ghosting effect"

Actually that might work ... I could tweak the existing X-Ray viewing mode so that marked polys stay solid. The you'd be able to see them in context in the rest of the mesh.

Isolating it helpful but yeah seeing it in context of the model is generally the way I want to see it.

I was going to say you could add it to the G menu, but it's pretty chocka.
