Hello,

I have UVMapper Pro and would like to know what can UVLayout do that can't be done in UVMapper Pro?

Is the work flow or pipeline easier or faster?
Is the end result superior with less distortion etc.?

If anyone here has used both, please let me know what the key comparison points are.
If this has already been discussed here, could you direct me to the proper thread?

Thank you.

I don't think any comparisons have been posted yet.

But did you know there's a Demo version of UVLayout available from uvlayout.com? It can be run in three modes ... the Demo mode has a very limited tool set, but you can save your work. Or it can be run in Pro or Hobbyist Trial mode, which gives you all the tools of those two versions, but no save.

Phil

Thanks Phil.

I'll give it a try.

If others have tried both, please share your experience.

I have used UVMP from the beginning.

I do the slicing and flattening of meshes and rough page layouts first in UVLayout. Then I have to go into UVMP to check for reversed, degenerate, and collinear facets and repair any found. I also have to arrange the mapping by materials and layout my pages and set the scaling of each page. Remember to use the update feature when saving your model from UVLayout if you want to keep materials intact.

For me it is not either/or, but both. Having UVLayout does not mean you WILL NOT NEED UVMP.

UVLayout has flattening-UVMP does not.
UVMP will let you map by materials or groups and assign materials and groups. UVLayout will not.

The above two points show why I like each program.
