UVLayout does a topology check when loading the mesh. Usually the "odd faces" error is caused by non-manifold edges, where more than 2 faces share a side.

Ticking "Clean" in the load options window will usually fix these.

thats the problem, without clean theres 70 odd faces...with clean theres just 1, does that mean that somewhere theres 2 polygons that share a face?

Hmmm, what you could try is to load it with Clean on, then save it out right away as a new OBJ, then re-load the new OBJ.

Which version are you using? Occasionally I update the Clean function, so you may need to upgrade to fix the problem.

Click on the blue "About UVLayout" button at the top of the main GUI window.

That version is over a year old now ... a lot has been improved in the Clean function since then.

Login to your uvlayout.com account and you'll find the latest version on the Support Download page.

If its been over a year since you purchased your license then more than likely you'll need to update your support subscription before you can download; its $50 a year, and you can pay that from your Support Details page.
