Cool!
Don’t worry about the looks of the interface. That is just cosmetics.

Yeah, a common interface is alright, especially with 3D apps. Houdini is the same across Windows, Linux, and OS X.

My only gripe with X11 apps in the past is that under OS X, they ran slow. I know it's really early, but how does it feel? Similar to the Windows/Linux versions in terms of speed and interactivity?

" but how does it feel? "

It seems OK ... I'm doing this on a brand spanking new MacBook Pro though, so that's going to make it run smoother than it might on older hardware.

About the only slow thing I've noticed so far is that it takes a while to get going if you don't have X running already.

Hi Phil,

How's it going with the OS X version?
You see that beta coming out anytime soon? Smile

Yes, pretty soon actually. After sorting out a mouse/keyboard focus problem, I'm happy with the way the software is running now. I just got drag'n'drop working, have the application bundle mostly sorted, so now its on to final checks!

I recon I'll have something ready for existing Pro users early next week.

The OS X version is now ready for Pro users to test out! See this
posting for details ...

http://www.headus.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=3204#3204

Once we get some feedback on that and are happy the worst bugs have
been found and fixed, I'll get the Demo and Hobbyist/Student versions
organized as well.

I can't seem to get it to recognize my Dongle. Do I need some kind of OSX specific driver for the dongle? Thanks.

EDIT: I just found the dongle info in the other thread. Thanks.

I'm very excited about the OSX release Very Happy . Unfortunately for me I have the hobby version, so I can't test it out yet but I'm already drooling in anticipation. I will deliver the news to everybody on the Unity3d (popular mac only game engine) forums, and I'm sure you will get many more new customers as well. Again, thanks for the port of my favorite app Very Happy Very Happy

I hope to be releasing the Hobbyist version next week; you'll be able to download that for free and your existing license key will unlock it.

Sorry, I've been busy on other projects, and didn't want to release the other versions in case something needed fixing in a hurry (which I wouldn't have been able to do).

Send me email ... architec@headus.com.au ... and I'll let you know where the Demo version can be downloaded from.
