can UVlayout bring in an image as a preview for the edit UV's window? That would be infintetely helpful. Phil, if this is not featured, please figure out a way to do it!!! Bringing in an image would be SOOOO HELPFUL!!!!

I guess the image would shrink/enlarge as the main window...

if there is a current way, how is this done?

Do you mean in the 2D editing view? If yes, then thats the Trace tool under the Display panel. Click on the gray Trace button to load the map, then use the sliders to control the transparency of the UVs and the trace image itself.
