Hello there,

Are they any video tutorials for this 2 tools ? (stack and symm) ...
As english is not my first language, all those video's are really helpfull to learn this amazing piece of software Smile I've read the user manual 5 times for this part, but still I don't get it without real exemples.

As a final word, I really love UVlayout, but I think it's the less intuitive software I ever used, with an interface that remind me the old good time.

It's also very strange that basic fonctions like 'edge marking and cutting' are only available with keyboard shortcuts too ... or maybe I miss them somewhere.

Whatever, at the end the workflow is perfect, and gives great results !!!

Yes, have a look under the "Old Beta" section of the videos at uvlayout.com. Hover you mouse pointer over the "i" symbol for a short description of whats in each one.

" with an interface that remind me the old good time."

You're talking to a programmer from the old good times :-) Because there's just me doing the UVLayout development, I tend to concentrate my effort on making the workflow and final result as good as possible, and a more sexy looking interface can come later.

"It's also very strange that basic fonctions like 'edge marking and cutting' are only available with keyboard shortcuts too .."

Correct. Though it takes more time to learn the shortcuts, it'll make you a lot faster after some practice.

I do completely agree about the shortcuts, I allready get them by heart, so I'm unwarping in no time now Razz

Thanks for the video link !

Ho yes, maybe a last one, the 3D viewport seems a little bit slow compared to my other softwares (modo ie) ... it seems strange because if I understand it well, cyslise is supposed to handle millions of polys and they should share the same 3D acceleration. It's not like I can't do the job correclty, but I'm just wondering if it comes from my gfx card or so.

", the 3D viewport seems a little bit slow "\

Yes, it can get slow if you have a large number of polys visible. The 'H' hotkey can be used to hide sections of a large mesh so that the display of the piece you're working on is much smoother.

The way I handle it in CySlice is to switch to wireframe during the view changes if there's a large number of polys visible ... its something I could easily do for uvlayout. Roughly how many polys do your objects have?

Not that much so far, 2000 quads, imported as a subd cage.

That's said I've just imported 32000 quads as subd, and I didn't notice a huge difference ... so far so good then.

Oh, OK, that shouldn't be slow at all. I have to admit I don't do a lot of optimizing of the code initially ... first step is to get it running, then debugged, then optimized, and because I'm still working through a long wish list, a lot of UVLayout is only at "stage 2" (ie debugged), and speeding things up will come later.

Hello, this is my first post! (:

I was also looking for the stacking video for a good bit of time. I've been doing it by hand, but decided it was time to find the answer so I joined the forums.

Re-naming the videos would be helpful. Beta-Stacking.mov or what ever. Just a thought.

I wanted to say that you have done an amazing job with this tool, it's so powerful and fast. It saves me endless amounts of time. Thank you for your hard work.

It does have that old feel to it! I love that, in the future when you do get to the point where you will be sprucing up the interface maybe you could keep it in that vein. I used to use animator pro, and Deluxe animation back in the day, and it reminds me of those apps.

Thanks again.

Yes, sorry about the confusion ... the original plan was to re-record all of the old beta videos, but things got busy and I didn't get around to it. Hopefully as things get quiet here in a couple of months over the Summer holidays, I'll do some of that.
