Is there a way to save your work and revisit the file for more editing.
Say you forgot a spot.
I tried to save an edited obj and when I tried to load it the UV information is there however I am unable to edit the spots I missed.
Thanks |

If you save the file as UVL (ie give it a .uvl extension), or use the Tmp and E buttons, then all the UVLayout specific information (like pinned points, straight edge tagging) is retained.
But if you only have the OBJ, you should still be able to load that and continue to edit. The spots you missed may be dropped off to one side, so use Shift-D to undrop those, and then you can continue with the normal editing procedure.

So it's ok to just type in the different extensions? Like if I press save, then type .obj I'll get an obj file? Or likewise if I type .UVL at the end of a file, I'll get an Unwrap file?
Just double checking.
Also what exactly does Update do? |

"So it's ok to just type in the different extensions?"
If you type in "fish", you'll get "fish.uvl" by default. If you want an OBJ, then that's when you have to add the extension (e.g. "fish.obj").
"Also what exactly does Update do?"
UVLayout currently discards everything apart from the geometry information when an OBJ is imported. This means you lose material definitions, shading groups etc and even surface normals. The OBJ Save doesn't restore any of this lost information.
What Update does is gets you to select the original OBJ, and it makes a copy of that (retaining all the extra information) and changes the UV information.
My plan eventually is to get rid of the Update, and the Save will retain all that info without you having to select the original file.
