Hello All,

The UVLayout Beta v1.20 is now available from ...

http://www.uvlayout.com/try/

New features added in this version:

- Local Scale tools : You you can now create and edit mixed scale
UVs more easily. These new tools replace the Green Balance tool
which briefly appeared in UVLayout v1.19.3.

- LMB picking : One or more shells can be picked with the LMB,
and then only these will be affected by subsequent operations. One
such application is to move picked shells together with Space-MMB.

Changes to existing features:

- Pattern : The Outline option is now supported for both DXF and
EPS exports.

Bugs fixed:

- D boxed drop and Shift-D boxed undrop was broken.

- Better handling of multiple monitors, e.g. nVidia DualView.

There's a couple of videos down the bottom of the download page demoing
the new tools. If you have a license already, just grab and install the software.
If you don't have a license, please fill in the form on the download
page to get your 30day temp license.

Phil

just watched the 'local scale' tool video...brilliant work, Phil! Very Happy

I really like that you've anticipated and 'fixed' the potential problem
of a smooth transition once rescaled.

UVLayout just keeps getting better and better. Great job! Smile

Kind regards,

Great update!

The ability to pick multiple shells to move/rotate/scale them around at once is a feature I've been wanting for some time. Your implementation is even better than I'd hoped however.

Likewise, for the local scale tools. You've come up with a very elegant solution.

Nice work.

Really like this update thanks. The pick and transform multiple shells was more than enough. The merge and smooth different scale shells is just amazing . More beer on your tab from me Cheers Lewi. Very Happy

Thanks to everyone for the feedback! Actually, that local scale thing worked out better than I expected ... its basically the same as the 4/5 local scale brushes I added not long ago, but applied evenly over the shell and stored in a second layer.

Nice one Phil, really enjoying these fast updates and look forward to see what you do next.

I've been using UVLayout every day at work and have been giving anyone who takes an interest a quick overview of what it can do (I think they're attracted to the pretty moving colours)

It's an extremely stable & useable/functional app for me (especially with the latest additions of picking multiple shells & greenbalance/local tool) but the only thing that I really notice missing from the tools is not being able to straighten edgeloops inside a border edge.

While not breaking the workflow, it's something of a tripwire where I have to break the mesh up then straighten edges and hope that they'll match up again when it comes to merging.

I notice you have it in the wishlist as internal straightening. hope to see it soon. Otherwise it's an extremely good app and already well worth the investment.

Hello All,

UVLayout Beta v1.20.3 is now available from the usual spot.

This release fixes a bug, introduced in the v1.20.2, that caused UVLayout to crash every time if the "Clean" load option for OBJ files was ticked.

Hello All,

UVLayout Beta v1.20.4 is now available from the usual spot.

= Changes to existing features:

- Better handling of SUBD surfaces, including new "Calc Subdivision
Targets" button in the Optimize panel for more accurate flattening
of certain shapes, and S hotkey in 3D view to toggle smooth
shading on and off.

- Improved handling of webbed holes, such as mouths and eyes.

= Bugs fixed:

- UVs in 3D view weren't updating after Shift-MMB edits.

Sometime in the next few days I'll put together a video explaining the changes
for SUBD surfaces (keep an eye on uvlayout.com/videos if you're interested in
that). I'll re-record the Head tutorial too I think, because the changes to the
handling of webbed holes makes that process a bit cleaner.

Phil

Update: That SUBD surface video is now up on the videos page.

Update: And an appendix to the Head tutorial videos is now up there too.
