Hello All,

The UVLayout Beta v1.21 is now available from ...

New features added in this version:

- Interior straightening: the I and K hotkeys can now be used to
straighten and square up interior edges.

Changes to existing features:

- The R, Shift-R and X relax hotkeys have been removed. Use the
4 and 5 local scaling hotkeys instead; they produce much better
results.

- The ability to auto flattening and save has been added to the
plugin interface; see the Plugins forum for details.

There's a new "Interior Straightening" video, on the uvlayout.com/videos page,
that shows how to use the new I and K hotkeys. If you have a license already,
just grab and install the software. If you don't have a license, please fill in the
form on the download page to get your 30day temp license.

Brilliant! I would like X back though, please, as I found it very handy for quickly untangling overlapping polys, in conjunction with the vert move tools. These are usually areas I don't want to alter the scaling for .. I just want to give Layout a hand to untwist bits. Unless, of course, you've got something ultra-spiffy planned for X.

Try the 6 hotkey with the 4/5/6 setting in the GUI set to "Pin" mode. That should untangle things better than the X key, plus its permanent (because the points get pinned after smoothing). You can unpin those points later on if you want by holding down 4+5 together.

But if you still think the X works better, just let me know ... I could probably be talking into putting it back in :-)

Howdy Phil,

Any chance you'll be re-implementing the Relax (r) option?

It seemed to be a bit more responsive to 'projecting' in an
accurate fashion, once the polys had been flattened, and
I'm not getting that capacity by using the 4,5,6 buttons
(could be user-unfamiliarity, tho) for some reason.

OK, I get the message, I'll put the old R, Shift-R and X keys back in! I took them out because I havent used those keys myself recently, but I'm not a regular user, so shouldnt be the one to judge if they're still useful or not :-)

Hello All,

UVLayout Beta v1.21.1 is now available from the usual spot.

New features added in this version:

- Sneak preview of the Pack tool. Click on the Pack button and all picked
or unlocked shells are packed into a square shape. A lot more is planned
for this in coming versions.

Changes to existing features:

- Outline toggle in the Pattern panel is now remembered between
different sessions of UVLayout.

- Due to popular demand, restored use of the old R, Shift-R and
X hotkeys.

Bugs fixed:

- The "Save Morph Target UVs" tool was broken.

Not at all! All the code was still there, so it was easy to reinstate. One thing I didn't do
though was put the Error & Relax coloring choices back into the GUI ... did you ever
use those?

Hi Phil,

Nope...never did customize the coloring, but I think someone else had made
a request for them awhile ago. <shrugs> Maybe they'll re-request when
they find them abscent. Wink

See below for what the packing tool is looking like here in my dev version ... on a model
with a small number of shells like this you're probably going to get better results
by using your own brain, but it at least shows the "box" tool in use ... the blue boxes
can be moved around and reshaped, and the shells in and around those boxes will
repack accordingly. The idea is that you'll be able to group similar things together in
the UV space.
