Unfortunately I only have maya8.5 and 2008 here to test with, so couldn't repeat the problem you're having with Maya8.0. I'll send you satya's email address so you can ask how they got it working under Maya8.0.

Also see my comments above about running the plugin, without the shelf buttons, via the "uvlayout_open;" command.

haven't heard from satya yet, but i did what you suggested. i also added a button to my custom shelf by selecting the command in the script editor window and selecting file>"save script to shelf".

thanks for the help. next time i'll try to read the thread a little better.

Phil,

can you please tell me how do I edit the script? I couldn't find directions about that anywhere.
- I run Maya 2008
- I installed Plugin v 2_2, and put both XPM & MEL files in the corect directions
- UVLayout shelf is present in Maya (looks just like your demo pic)
- and when i try to open UVLayout, I get:

uvlayout_run;
// Error: Cannot find procedure "uvlayout_run". //

Can you help me please?

Thanks,

Triavna

Quit and restart Maya and try again. Other than that, check that you really do have the script file in the correct location. Let us know where you have it now in case there's an obvious error.

I have just reinstalled Maya2008 and copied over all my prefs so maya is running just like it was before the install, all other plugs and scripts seem to work just fine.

I installed the very latest UVlayout, 2.02.02. I can run UVlayout with the MEL buttons, using either RUN off the shelf, or Run UVlayout window which pops up after clicking INFO..... the problem is that "Send Mesh" no longer sends any mesh.

If I click RUN off the shelf it send the selected mesh ok, but when you click SEND back from UVlayout it never does send the uv`s back :/

Anyone else noticed this error, I`ll carry on testing on a new scene and check back.

-Paul.

Yes, sorry, 2.02.02 has broken the plugin Send. I've just fixed it, am doing final testing now, and will upload a new installer sometime in the next hour or so.

See http://www.headus.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=3130#3130 for workaround.

Upgrade to the latest version, because there's been a few bug fixes to the plugin code since 2.00.05.

Hi all.
I had this problem of not being able to load up UVL from the shelf buttons before but cant remember what the fix was for win x64 OS!

I think Phil, that you supplied me with an amended uvLayout_open mel script last time, which I no longer have.
I have used the forward slash in the return line but still no luck. It's a bummer as I have been using it with Maya for couple years no on X64 bit.

return "C:/Program Files (x86)/headus UVLayout v2 Professional";

Thanks for your help.

Steve

"I have used the forward slash in the return line"

Yeah, I think that's what was needed last time.

Is UVLayout working stand-alone?

Have you recently upgraded your version of Maya? The uvlayout_open.mel script isn't in the prefs folders, so doesn't get copied when you do a Maya upgrade; you need to manually copy the script file.

My mistake was putting the open mel in the scripts folder Prefs>Scripts.

All fixed now

Thanks
