If you've recently upgraded your version of Maya, I think it copies the shelf items, but not the MEL scripts. Check the install instructions at the beginning of this topic for the correct location of the various files.

what a great tool, thanks alot

after testing subd I gor a warning message:
// Warning: Edits on 'uvl3992_uvlayout_subdivCube1' may have been lost as a result of renaming. We strongly recommend the use of Namespaces to resolve Name Clashes.

I test the subd using a cube and I pressed in send then "x" but nothing loaded in maya 8.5

polygons are working fine

plz advice

I don't remember seeing that error before ... it seemed to work a few days ago when I used it under Maya 2008. That also was a subd cube.

Support for subdiv objects in the plugin is still not complete ...

- Only one subdiv objects can be sent at the time.
- Subdiv objects will get their transformation frozen and pivot reset to origin
- Material assignments will be lost and standard Lambert applied.

... so if you can use polys all the time, then I'd do that.

sorry I dont understand what you mean !

however even if I used subd Maya can convert it to poly but I hope in the future that the plugin support all

Thanks

Are you saying that the "UVLayout" shelf is visible, but that there's no buttons in it, or isn't the "UVLayout" shelf there at all?

The shelf buttons aren't the only way to run the plugin, so maybe you can work around the problem .... type "uvlayout_open;" into the mel command window, and that should open up the plugin GUI, and from there you can run UVLayout and send objects over.

yes, when i install the plugin i get this error message:

the shelf "uvlayout" has items that cannot be read.
the shelf will only display the items before the first unreadable item it finds.
if you start maya and save this shelf then you will lose the unreadable items.
this will happen automatically if you have your preferences set to save the shelves on exit.

and, sure enough, there are no items in the shelf if i choose the "continue" option versus the "quit maya" option on the dialog box.

tia,
-j

p.s. as i mentioned before, i'm using maya 8.0 for windows. it's on win xp pro sp3. and, i have "iuvlayout-pro-2.01.03.exe" installed w/ a usb dongle.[/img]

OK, looks like exactly the same problem that satya above had. I'll uninstall and reinstall the plugin here to see if I needed to do anything special to get it going under Maya8.

Stay tuned ...
