I know that sounds odd, and it is odd. There are times that the F and Shift F functions switch, and I never know when it's going to happen.

I will hit the F key, expecting a simple flattening, and it will bloat and flatten. Then, I'll hit the shift and F and it will flatten without bloating. Then, it will switch back.

During those times it can be impossible to get the bloat to stop. I know about clicking off of the face in a blank area to get the bloat to stop, but then I'll just move the mouse, and it will bloat again.

It's a little bloat crazy.

Hi there .. glad you found your way over here from Renderosity.

After you hit Shift+F, the way to stop the 'bloat' is to hit the space bar. The mesh will then flatten until you hit the space bar again, when it'll stop. Just hitting F will make the mesh appear to expand if the outer rim of polygons is tucked underneath the central part of the mesh .. it needs to open the mesh out like a flower to get everything flat. F only operates for a few seconds at a time.

I've never seen Shift+F and F operations mixed up on my system .. I'm sure Phil would be grateful if you could find a model where this effect often happens, so he can see if there's anything needs fixing in the code.

Could it be the Caps Lock key? That would swap the action of F and Shift-F.

For a while now I've been thinking I should show something in the 3D view when Caps Lock is on, because it is easy to accidentally turn it on.

OK, in case is was the Caps Lock key, UVLayout now displays a warning message in the 3D window if Caps Lock is on. Grab v1.16.9 if you want this.
