I am using uvlayout v2.09 something and I tried flattening a simple shape. Tried this on a different model and it worked fine. Now this shape is very small on the model, but for some reason it will not flatten.

I have tried F
Shift F
Space F

No matter what method of flattening it always screws up into a ball and gets trashed.

Is there a way to flatten this without it getting screwed. I am wondering if it is a scale problem as this is a very small part of the model.

There is only slight curvature not, much s it shouldn't have too much trouble flattening.

EDIT: I can planar map this in 3ds max with no problems, so I will probably have to unwrap this in max instead of uvlayout, which is a shame

My model is large, but this part of the model is really small. I found out if I select polygons and detach this piece of the moden and send to uvlayout it flattens fine. So I am guessing it is a scaling issue. I will have to detach each part, unwrap and then re-attach it seems.

Not sure if that is the best solution, but it works so far

Can you give me some idea of the relative sizes? That is, overall length of the main object, and then length of that small piece. I can then make something similar here to test with.
