My router being down, I temporary installed a simple modem until I get a new router. The problem is... when I run UVLayout, it says Ether 'not found'. I guess that's because I changed that modem but... Will I have to ask for a new license key each time I change my modem? Thank you.

No, your system does not start the network services when there is not connection to a system (router etc...). Your network adapter is 'down' for the system if it is not connected anywhere. So the licensing cannot get the necessary information. If you can, plug the card into 'something'. Even if your router is not connected anywhere... plug your system into it and I am sure all will be good.
Of course... I might be really wrong.... But that's all I can guess frm the info your provided.
Cheers

It so happens I did some work on this for v1.14 (which got uploaded yesterday). I havent gotten round to the user docs for the new code yet, but the short answer is to grab and install v1.14, then double click on the headus UVLayout desktop icon, then in the licensing GUI window turn "Keep Alive" On. This will add something to the registry that disables to disabling of the network card when the cable is unplugged. Reboot, and fingers crossed you Ether ID will magically reappear!
The explanation for whats going on is here ...

I just completed the blurb on the new "Keep Alive" option. You can read about it towards the bottom of this page ...
