Is the plugin for Maya 2016 (Mac) supposed to allow you to save a .uvl file, as you can with the standalone app? Or are you meant to Send the UVs to Maya and save the Maya project every now and then?

When I try to Save a .uvl file from UVLayout after I launch it from the Maya shelf and send over a mesh, it freezes up. Is this a bug for the Mac/XQuartz version? I am using v.2.09.04 on a Mac with Quartz version 2.7.8.

On an unrelated question, what do the pink-purple lines represent on a cut-out UV shell? I see them on a ring I cut from a cylinder.
