pack - box within a box?

Can you have boxes within boxes when packing? Let's say I have nuts in one box, bolts in another, and finally screws in another. Can I then select those three boxes and then create a new box for packing? So I have the larger box but then I still have the smaller boxes so that when I pack it still keeps the parts that I've specified together.

I've tried this and it seems to delete the original boxes and make one big new one.
