Hey it seems like once you have marked and dropped your mesh from the 3d ED view into the UV view for the first time you aren't able to run a optimize function(auto uv unwrap) on them until you first go though and manually hit "F" on each individual shell you dropped. There has to be a way to automate this? If not it would be great for the optimize function to also work on non flattened mesh chunks. Hope this makes sense.
let me know if there is a better way that i have missed? |

What you've missed is that you can aim the pointer at empty space, tap Shift-F, then stretch a box around the dropped shells. Each in turn then will be flattened out for a few seconds. You'll probably need to run the Optimize "Run For" for a while afterwards to fully flatten them all out.
This was added in v2.08.01.
