Hi,

Apologies for the noob question but just downloaded and installed trial version and installed the maya plugin for 2016 version. Created a basic cube and divided it into lower and upper. CLick on Info under UVLayout menu from Maya which fires open the application and a Maya window. From Maya window I select debug option and click run uvlayout. Once I click "send mesh" it errors out. Log file as follows:

select -r top_low ;
uvlayout_open;
// save C:/Users/selement.AUS/Documents/maya/projects/default/uvlayout/uvl12472.obj
// load C:/Users/selement.AUS/Documents/maya/projects/default/uvlayout/uvl12472.out
// home C:/Program Files (x86)/headus UVLayout v2 Demo
// list ...
// uvlayout.exe
// uvlayoutT.exe
// start "C:/Program Files (x86)/headus UVLayout v2 Demo/uvlayout.exe" -log -plugin -maya uvl12472.obj
// sending selected ...
// top_low
// removing C:/Users/selement.AUS/Documents/maya/projects/default/uvlayout/tmp12472.obj
// removing C:/Users/selement.AUS/Documents/maya/projects/default/uvlayout/uvl12472.obj
// sending set Poly
// sending exported ...
// top_low
// Error: file: C:/Users/selement.AUS/Documents/maya/2016/prefs/scripts/uvlayout_open.mel line 955: Invalid file type specified: OBJexport //

With trial version should I be able to do this? It appears the obj files are being deleted as I can't locate them in the working directory.
