Set up the license server and client on the same machine like you did in the video. Headus 3d Tools will accept the floating license (says 28 days left) but hitting test does nothing.

If I restart the program it forgets the ip address I put in common preferences (for floating license).

Doesn't look like it is ever checking out a license at all.

Kind of frustrated.

When you type in the IP address or server name into the Common Preferences "HLServer" field, you have to follow it by an "Enter" key to save the value. The rest of the licensing GUI should then update (i.e. a "Floating Keys" line will appear). If you dont see that "Floating Keys" line, then the value hasn't been set.

I do hit enter.

Here is a pick showing that the floating key takes but does not check out the key from the server. Hitting test attempts to open the program(you can see it in processes) but it never actually opens.

Attempting to open it with an obj or just run it brings up the license tools screen again.[/img]

I see that HLManager is showing a connection from "localhost", so would I be right in thinking you are trying to run UVLayout on the same system that's hosting the floating licenses (i.e. you're using the same desktop as the license server and as the UVLayout workstation)?

If that's the case, then you will most likely need to adjust the hlserver.conf file to allow access to localhost (its not open by default for user applications, just HLManager). If you can email me a copy of your hlserver.conf and the hlserver.log files, I can help with the changes.

Phil

PS. I had another user recently with the exact same problem, so have since changed HLServer so that "localhost" is opened up by default, without any need to change hlserver.conf. That change hasn't yet made it into a released version though.
