I'm experiencing quite a few issue with packing large scale assets.

It takes for ever to pack even a few shells. I tried hiding 3/4 of the shells within the udim, it performs better but still plays up from time to time.

Hold space rarely works. It can keep going for quite sometime before it stops.

Just tried isolating 4 small shells, still took like 30 seconds.

Any ideas on how to speed this up?

Is there any chance you can send me a UVL file of that, at the point where you have things flattened and want to do the pack? I can sign an NDA if needed.

A possible work-around to the very slow packing problem (until I fix the bug) is to select the "Dont Resize Shells" option. Of course that'll mean that the UV box wont adjust automatically for maximum packing, but you can run the pack, see how much space is left, then adjust the box size manually (with Shift and the -/= keys) then repack.

Hi,

I'm looking into the NDA.
I've found that this isn't re-creatable. Meaning that if I resend the mesh it works fine and hiding other shells certainly helped speed things up.

What I've noticed is that sometimes the packing procedure stumbles on relatively basic tasks (not as basic as a few primitives though).
It seems to have a problem packing shells that don't easily conform to a box, if there's an uneven number of shells it can take much much longer.

If we can get the NDA sorted I could make a video for you.

Thanks, if you can get an NDA organized, that would definitely help. But actual data is more useful than a video.

It could be related to the scale of the geometry maybe? Any data that goes slow I can use for debugging, so if you can generate a bunch of blocks that are similar in size and position etc to your normal shapes, and they pack slow, I can test with that.
