|
|
I am running UVLayout Pro on Windows.
Is there a way to install it on our clients without user interaction, such as a silent install, using installer switches? This would make deployment easy.
I have also tried using the Server installation method to install silently, as specified here:
http://www.uvlayout.com/doc/Installation_Guide:_Windows
But I get this error:
---------------------------
howin32.exe - System Error
---------------------------
The program can't start because LIBHEX.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Appreciate your help! |

No sorry, there's no automated installation procedure.
Regarding the server install, its been a long while since I last tested that. Which version of Windows are you using on the server and on the client side?

My client is a Windows 7 (64bit).
I have copied the uvlayout program files to a folder in our file server(running OS X), and did not actually install it on the server. Perhaps that's the reason it does not work.
Please consider an automated install in your next release. If that is not possible, please document the installation process for us, so that we can make our own deployment package. |

Ahhh, interesting, I hadn't ever tried mixing a Windows client with a non-windows file server. So I just checked and its working OK here; Win 7 client with a Fedora 13 file server. If that works I can't think of any reason why an OS X server wouldn't.
Double check that the path to the UVLayout files in server.bat is correct. And of course, make sure you copied the entire UVLayout install folder off the initial Windows install onto the file server. It might also be worthwhile checking the file access permissions on the server.
When sitting on the Win 7 system, can you see the supposedly missing file (libhex.dll) in the UVLayout install folder?
