I use fast weld a lot now but what is bothering me a little is that there are a few things you cant do while in that mode, such as selecting shells. Also the weld gaps option doesnt work while in fast weld.

Is there a particular reason for this?
Perhaps if it was a toggle/hotkey rather than a mode??

Yes, sorry, the problem there is that when in fast weld mode, the LMB clicks are interpreted as edge picks, so the normal shell picking action is over-ridden by that.

What does work though is to pick all your shells first, then go into fast weld mode, and then the "Weld Gaps" function will work when you click it.
