in this modeling/uv mapping/painting process.
Hi people,
As I understand things; from my 3d app I export my model as an .obj, which I bring into HeadUS and make a UV map and export as an .eps (?) into my paint app to paint it . . . then what.
I’m assuming everything has to end up in the 3d app. The model in is the 3d app, no problem, I know how to import the texture, easy going.
Now, the step I'm missing is how do I get the UV map into the 3d app so that it understands how to line up the texture to the model? |

Maybe you did this already, but it wasn't in your list ... you have to save the OBJ from UVLayout and then load that back into your 3D modeling app. If you dont do that then the UVs you've created wont be on the model, so your painted map wont line up.
Once you have that mesh back in your modeler, there's usually a way to view the UVs. So do that to double-check that the UVs you created in UVLayout have been loaded OK.
You should then be able to map your painted texture on to the mesh and it will line up fine.
By the way, dont use EPS as the template for texture painting. Open up the "Render" panel and set the map resolution and click the Save button to write out a TIF.
